"Hi Brett,
As per my phone call just before Christmas the brake bracket (master cylinder
support bracket) has made a big noticeable difference, brake pedal feels very
progressive & responsive - so much more feel & “spongy feeling” has totally
gone, (I think I remember it going “spongy- losing feel” after Wakefield Park –
assume firewall to started flexing & maybe a bit weaker/ (metal fatigued?) after
all that hard braking."
-Regards Robert.
"I will keep this simple, the bracket works. Before I had it put on I was
considering the STi four spotters, now I don't need them, brake feel and response is a
tonne better and it enables you to use these brakes to the fullest, and their good, real
good. Thanks Brett."

And another...
"I had seen a fix to the firewall flex on the MRT web site called a brake
support bracket, retailing for $95. Andrew McGregor (Performance Plus Automotive
on 0419 342 236) sells the bracket here in Melbourne (at the same price as MRT
but if you live in Melbourne you won't pay freight ex-Sydney) so I approached
him and asked if I could trial the bracket at a coming Phillip Island meet. I
must admit I had some doubts on whether it would effect the braking feel by much
but I was willing to give it a try and Andrew was confident enough to let me
test it.
Saturday 20th November saw my first time at the Island circuit and so I used the first two sessions to familiarise myself with the track and get comfortable with it. The first thing I did notice was that the new DOT 5 brake fluid had lessened the spongy feel I had encountered at Winton. I was running the same pads and tyres and the brakes definitely felt much better.
After the 3rd session, I had my braking points worked out and had been pulling consistent times so decided it was time to test the bracket. It took about 20 mins to fit and I was done just in time for the final session. Phillip Island really only has two hard braking corners, Honda and MG. It was at these corners that I most expected to test the effects of the bracket.
I must admit I didn't notice a difference initially with the bracket on. The pedal may have felt slightly firmer but it was not a huge difference. The biggest thing that grabbed my attention however was that I was able to control the brakes much better at the limit. By this, I mean I could control the maximum point just before the tyres started to lock up. A real problem I had at Winton and in my first three sessions at the Island was that as I progressively squeezed the brake pedal tighter, the brakes would sometimes lock up requiring some fancy steering to get me around the corner. With the bracket on, I noticed the brakes were not locking as much (in fact, hardly at all) and I was able to control the peak level of my braking a whole lot better.
I found after a few laps of getting used to the new feel with the bracket on, I was able to brake a bit later into each corner than I had previously been able to. This was reflected in my lap times which were consistently quicker by almost a second from the previous session.
In recommending the bracket, I will say the difference is only noticeable on the track under heavy braking. I found no difference to the brakes on the street and indeed your firewall will not flex much here anyway unless really stomping the pedal. The stiffer feel it provided on the track may also not suit everyone and will depend on the type and compound of brake pad you have. The bottom line is that you really need to try the bracket for yourself. I doubt you'll be disappointed however.
p.s. Thanks must go to Andrew McGregor for loaning me the bracket for testing. He will be pleased to hear that I will be keeping it."
